WORTHING GET FIRST HOME WIN
Jewels in the crown of Worthing's first home win since relegation last season were their 248 runs from a batting order featuring Lutwyche and opener John Kaye in at Nos 8 & 9 and requiring only 21 runs from them; a 64 from Aussie Matt Paul; 48 from Steve Pearse and another five wickets for paceman Chris Mansell.
Pulborough, the Sussex League rookies, dismissed for 99, lean heavily on the Clarks, Ashley and Gavin. Lutwyche was able to rejoice in the fact that both made ducks in both matches. Mansell dismissed the pair and one catch was one of two by Lutwyche at short leg '” a position Worthing fielded virtually all the Pulborough reply.

After Tom Hudson struck the first blow and Mansell tore out the middle order, Worthing's spinners, left-armer Ben Shelford, Russell Brown and Paul cleaned up the rest around Tom Crump's defiant 26 off 59 deliveries.
Lutwyche on Worthing's batting: "Matt's shot selection was good, he didn't get bogged down and kept the scoreboard ticking over '” just what we needed. Steve Pearse straight drove well but he got tied down by the spinners in the 40s. .Jamie Carter was very good square of the wicket and after them, the rest of us came in and biffed a few.
"We're keeping the same top four but after that it doesn't matter who comes in where because we need everyone to get a bat at the moment."
Dave Marshallsay kept wicket.
