Snooker star Davis beaten by Allen
World number seven Allen, winner of the recent Haikou World Open, went 2-0 up in Galway with top breaks of 67 and 40. St Leonards-based Davis, ranked 17, should have won the third frame, but missed the penultimate red to a centre pocket at 57-16 and his opponent made an excellent 43 clearance.
Davis also had a clear chance in the fourth only to miss the last red on this occasion and again Allen stepped in to settle the tie. It’s the second time that Davis has been beaten by Northern Irish left-hander Allen since the turn of the year having also lost to him at The Masters.
