Lewes declared on 231-7 with Nick Walters hitting 63 and James Chetwood 62. Chris Topp was the pick of the Bexhill bowlers with 6-85. In reply, Richard May struck 57 and veteran Lewes bowler Ian Newman claimed 4-48 as Bexhill ended the day on 226-9.
