A light drizzle at the start soon gave way to warm sunshine as Middlesex crept into an early lead. At ten ends the lead had been whittled away and Sussex were only three shots behind overall. With county debutant Jack Till having an excellent first game and top rink skip Lee Heitzman forging ahead, Sussex soon took the lead and eventually won by a commanding 124 shots to 103.
Horsham president Mike Power said: “The club is honoured to be granted the chance to host this regional fixture and we put a lot of effort into ensuring that everything went well. As hosts we were of course neutral but the fact that Sussex won overall, gaining 16 league points to Middlesex’s six provided the ‘cherry on the ice cream’.”
