The opening frame at the Clayton and Keymer British Legion saw Middies’ Barry Martin produce a brilliant break of 53 but his opponent John Hoad retaliated with a 37 before going down 168-200.
It was all square when Horsham’s Maurice Wickens produced a canny display to outwit a determined Ken Warren 200-133 and then the visitors went ahead as Adrian Laker took out Peter Green 200-168.

In the end it was Janman who maintained the momentum to win 200-160 and level a match that was well marshalled by referees Dennis Wakeford and Dave Fry.
