I'm not a fan of any of the 20 teams involved this season - my lot, Pompey, are enjoying an extended holiday in League One and will relocate back to the promised land when they want to thank-you very much. But you may detect in my summary that for some of the teams I have axes to grind. That's half the fun of it though, isn't it? And I can say hand on heart I've not placed any team lower than I want to just because I don't like them*. If you disagree with my selections furiously, do have a go yourself - tweet me at @stevebone1 and post your own finishing positions, then we can all reconvene in May and see who knows best. (* apart from Leicester).
1. Man City
So inconsistent last season, but showing signs after the resumption that their old levels were back. I'm no fan of clubs who throw as much money at the team as City do, but you have to admire what the likes of Aguero and De Bruyne have brought to English football. This may well be Pep's last year at City and I think they'll have a new resolve about them to finish above Liverpool, and if they do that we know where they'll end. Prediction: 1st.
2. Liverpool
In recent years I have never tipped Liverpool to win the title – not even last year. Not because I don't like them, I just never thought they had anything like the strength they had in their glory days. They far exceeded my expectations last season but the lockdown has done them no favours. Their momentum was lost while they waited to see if they'd still be crowned, and I think they'll struggle to be as good again. Prediction: 2nd
3. Chelsea
For years, and under a succession of different managers, people have been writing off Chelsea, and for years Chelsea have been there or thereabouts despite gloomy predictions. I'm a big Frank fan (that's a big fan of Frank, not a fan of big Frank) and they'll be top three, and not a million miles behind the top two, with Portsmouth's own Mason Mount influential. And they might even get to the Champions League final. Prediction: 3rd
4. Man Utd
Ole has the makings of one of the best squads United have had since Sir Alex stepped back, but it's still only the makings. Their defence is still suspect and although I think there will be periods where they look like title contenders, I also think there will be 2-1 defeats at West Brom or West Ham. They'll probably win a cup, but probably don't really care about that. Prediction: 4th.
