Parris quits as Bexhill manager
Parris informed the players of his decision during the warm-up prior to last night’s (Tuesday’s) match at home to Newhaven after claiming his team selection was influenced by club chairman Robin Powell.
Parris said: “The chairman told me not to play a certain individual an hour before kick-off for stuff that’s gone on Twitter and if I played that person, three or four of the committee members would resign. He said ‘I would rather lose 20-0 than for that person to play’.”

Hide AdParris arrived at The Polegrove in summer 2011 as joint manager. He assumed sole charge the following January, leading Bexhill to seventh place in Sussex County Football League Division Two and Hastings & District FA Senior Cup glory.
Bexhill were unbeaten in the league this season until December and had some good results in the cups, but injury and availability issues have seen them slide to 12th having won only twice since Boxing Day.
Powell wished not to comment other than to say that Bexhill will fulfil their first and reserve team fixtures on Saturday when the front side is away to Rustington. See Friday’s Bexhill Observer for the full article.
