East Sussex school's footballers celebrate league title triumph
The team from the Upper Dicker school won all seven matches and amassed a +24 goal difference. The league was halted by coronavirus before the final matches but the league committee voted to award Bede’s the title owing to their position, points total and goal difference.
David Caryer, director of football at Bede’s, said: “For Bede’s to be crowned champions of such a prestigious league after going undefeated in all of their matches against some of the strongest footballing schools in the country is an outstanding achievement, and shows how much our football programme has developed in recent years.”

“This success is testament to the players’ hard work and dedication to the sport and their squad. They were relentless in training, straight from the start of pre-season sessions. It was a fantastic team effort.”
For three of the Bede’s 1st XI Upper Sixth players, celebrations were extended when they were signed to prestigious USA university teams from next season.
Rex Lane has signed to Bates College, Tom Collins will join fellow former Bede’s pupil Matt Pickering at Dartmouth College, and Sam Bickersteth joins the Lake Forest College soccer team in Illinois.
