Brighton probably just about shaded it and were unlucky to see a second half strike from Adam Lallana ruled out for a handball by Danny Welbeck in the build-up.
Welbeck previously missed a very good chance in the first half and defender Adam Webster saw a thumping header crash back off the cross bar after the break.
Robert Sanchez was called-in for Maty Ryan and impressed between the sticks and made two excellent saves in the second half.

1. Robert Sanchez 7/10
Nice first half save to deny a stinging effort from Cavaleiro. Also saved well with his feet when Loftus Cheek was clean through and a brave save from Lookman. Looked confident between the sticks and calm with the ball at his feet. Will he keep his place?
2. Ben White 7/10
Defended well and an attacking threat as the game progressed. Another good performance and looks increasingly comfortable on the Premier League stage
3. Lewis Dunk 7/10
Solid display from the skipper. Thwarted Lookman with a great tackle in the first half. Thumping header and interesting follow-up effort saved by Areola
4. Adam Webster 7/10
Looked decent on the left side of defensive trio. Solid defensively and tried to link well with March. Unlucky with a header that crashed off the bar
