Danny Welbeck's composed first half finish put Albion in the lead but they were pegged back shortly after the interval as Ezri Konsa fired home from close range after a Jack Grealish set piece.
Solly March however put Albion back into the lead when his curling right-footed strike from Pascal Gross' pass flew beyond Aston Villa stopper Martínez.
It was a hugely entertaining match at Villa Park and it was Albion's second's victory of the Premier League campaign.

1. Maty Ryan 6/10
Palmed a Grealish effort away and also produced a strange save with his feet in the first half to deny Mings. Beaten by Konsa's close range effort just after the break
2. Tariq Lamptey 7/10
Sent off for two late yellows in quick succession, the second of which was very harsh. Prior to that he had played well and offered energy and pace. Great burst forward after the break through the heart of the Villa defence but his final pass was just a fraction to long for Welbeck.
3. Lewis Dunk 7/10
Back after a three match ban and added a solid presence to the defence. A few tough moments against a dangerous Villa attack and will be disappointed to see his team concede from another set-piece
4. Ben White 7/10
White Started in defence and played well. Excellent block to thwart Watkins on 39 minutes. Moved into midfield after the break as Veltman came on in place for Lallana. Looks at ease in the Premier League
