Bexhill target championships glory
The town’s most successful sporting club has at least one crew in every race and has high hopes to bring back some more silverware to add to the Coast Amateur Rowing Association (CARA) Championship which Bexhill won easily again this year.
Club captain Nick McCorry said: “Winning the overall title is probably the main goal for the club. There are five championship, and 15 open crews at the club, so we should be able to score highly across a number of disciplines.

Bexhill topped the CARA (which regulates competition from Worthing to Herne Bay) league standings with 695 points to the 476 of second-placed Shoreham.
And tomorrow the club will be hoping to reproduce this form at an event which brings together CARA crews, and the Hampshire and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association (from Swanage to Southsea) along with those from the West of England ARA.
Any early risers would be able to tell you how seriously the club is taking the championships. Bexhill’s rowers have been out on the sea from dawn until dusk training in recent weeks.

The races start at 10am with the under-16 quads. The day’s final event is for the prestigious Bideford Bowl, in which the men’s senior coxed fours battle it out.
