UPDATE: Man assaulted at Old Town cashpoint

Detectives now believe the 34-year-old man, who lives locally, may have been assaulted.
Emergency services and the Sussex Air Ambulance were called to the incident outside Waitrose on Friday night at around 11.30pm.

Hide AdHe was treated at the scene by paramedics and an air ambulance medical team before being taken by land ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he was detained overnight for observation. He has since been discharged.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said this morning (Monday), “It is thought the man may have been attacked shortly after using a cash machine during the previous half hour. It is not known if any money was taken.
“Anyone who saw what happened or who may have other information is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 1662 of 08/04.
“Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-uk.org).”
