The event was organised by Kevin Barry, the Marshlink community rail development officer working for the Sussex Community Rail Partnership, based at Rye station, with financial support from train operating company Southern.
Kevin said: “This was a great community event. I am very grateful to Huseyin Ay, who owns the coffee bar at Bexhill station, who provided the cakes and soft drinks, and to his staff, who really entered into the spirit of the occasion.”

“Southern provided badges and crayons for the children too, which were also popular.
“We even had regular commuters popping in because they’d seen what was happening on Facebook, it was great to welcome them too.
“Thanks must go to Kevin Barry for organising the event, to Huseyin Ay and his colleagues for providing and serving the cakes and drink, and to Southern for their financial support
