The event was just one of more than 70 similar events organised in towns up and down the UK on the UN World Day of Social Justice.
In Hastings, people were invited to take a selfie with a message of thanks to migrants from anywhere in the world who live, work or study in the UK.

Hastings Green Party spokesperson Andrea Needham said: “We had a really positive response from people in Hastings who have first-hand experience of the important contribution which migrants make to our town.
“We also spoke to many people who had themselves come to Hastings from other countries, and were glad to see this solidarity event taking place.
“Hastings is a wonderfully diverse community and we wanted to be part of One Day Without Us to show the many positive things that come from that diversity.”
