Tourism film launch at Battle Abbey

Around 50 people packed into the Board Room at the Abbey Gatehouse for the official unveiling of the promotional mini-movie.
The three-minute feel-good film features footage taken at major events in the town, including Gala Night, Good Friday Marbles and Battle Bonfire, as well as the many characters who run the town’s independent stores, including Nobles Restaurant, 1066 Butchers, The Bull Inn and Cooden Cellars.

Hide AdIntroducing the film, Jane Ellis, tourism marketing officer at 1066 Country Marketing, said: “The aim of the film is to show the modern, friendly side of Battle, although the traditional and historic is never to be denied.”
Visit Battle also features a number of surrounding attractions, including Sedlescombe Vineyard, the Kent and East Sussex Railway and Bodiam Castle, with Jane explaining the idea of Battle as a ‘hub’ town and a base to visit these attractions.
The promotional film has been emailed out to around 20,000 people so far and will be shown at overseas exhibitions, in a bid to bring visitors from all over the world to Battle.
Visit Battle was filmed by Andrew Jenner and the voice over was supplied free of charge by Battle actress Francesca Hunt.

Hide AdThe film opens with music from international supergroup Keane, who hail from Battle.
Jane thanked everyone involved in the making of the film, particularly Liz Honey from Battle Marketing Group and director of the town’s Saffron Gallery, who has driven the project.
She said: “Liz Honey has worked absolutely untiringly on behalf of this town, liaising with Andrew Jenner, the man behind the camera.”
Jane added: “Thank you Andrew for your patience, flexibility, artistry and good humour.”
