The feed, which has been installed in the Hammonds Drive police station this week, will allow police officers to give evidence in court without leaving Eastbourne.
Sussex PCC, Katy Bourne - who secured funding for the project – says the video feeds will significantly cut the amount of time police officers spend giving evidence in court.

Today, it starts in Eastbourne with police officers able to give evidence to Magistrates’ Courts from their local station but, later this summer, it will be across the entire county.
“Getting more police officers on patrol is vital and reducing the anxiety that victims and witnesses face because of court appearances and delays will be my top priority in the longer term.”
More than 20 of the feeds will be installed in police stations around Sussex over the coming months.
Ms Bourne hopes that in future, public buildings will also house the feeds, allowing victims and witnesses to give evidence more easily.

Hide AdSussex Police Detective Superintendent Nick May welcomed the project. He said, “Giving evidence to court is an essential part of a police officer’s job and anything that supports the valuable work of magistrates’ court is positive.
“But on average, where officers have to give evidence in Sussex, it can take up to five and half hours and this speeds that up.
“This initiative will substantially increase the amount of time that officers can stay on patrol on the frontline. It’s a win-win for the police and the public.”
