Team effort to rescue horse stuck in ground in Pyecombe

Crews from West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were alerted to the incident at 7.30am.
With support from Sussex Equine Hospital, they managed to get Macho the horse back on his feet.

Hide AdTRU watch manager Mick Lewin said: “It is not uncommon for horses to not to be able to get back on their feet once they’re on the ground, but it is important to get them back on their feet, because being left on the ground can cause lasting damage.
“In this instance the owner of the riding stables did the right thing and called in extra help, as manoeuvring an animal as large as Macho is requires specialist equipment.
“Working under veterinary guidance from Sussex Equine Hospital, we were gently able to lift Macho back up onto his feet where he was able to receive the treatment he needed from the vet.”
