Rain fails to dampen enthusiasm
It’s usually hailed as one of Bexhill’s biggest and finest summer events but with typical bank holiday weather there was little that organisers could do to save the day, but there were still around one hundred and fifty glorious cars and bikes on display.
Bexhill 100 spokesman Paul Brailsford said one car owner braved the elements to drive all the way from Dover to Bexhill in his open top replica ‘C’ Type Jaguar. “He got wet coming to Bexhill and going home again!”

Paul said: “We were delighted that Robin opened the show for us at 11am.
“Bexhill Town Mayor, Brian Kentfield and his wife Susan, the Mayoress, also came to the event and stayed for a quite a while and it was nice to have the support of those who turned up.
“Unfortunately the weather meant it was a bit of a washout and we couldn’t do anything about that, but the typical British attitude was to have an enjoyable day despite the rain.”

The event usually raises much needed funds for charity and in the past nine years raised £36,000 for local charitable organisations.
Paul added: “We all got a bit wet but had a good laugh. It was our tenth anniversary and we were all hoping it would be bigger and better.”
