As part of the proposals the building will be divided into five units, with a new frontage on and access to Norfolk Street.

Hide AdDeveloper B5 Ltd’s application has been approved by Arun District Council planning officers.
In a report officers said: “This proposal is considered to represent an efficient use of currently vacant commercial premises within the town centre area. It does so without harm to the character of the conservation area (it is actually considered that it will have a positive impact on the conservation area) and it is considered that the impacts on the adjoining residents can be mitigated through planning conditions.”
The same developer has an application pending to demolish the building next door in Waterloo Square, citing the poor and unsafe condition of the existing structure.
The applicant is arguing the building is in a ‘very dangerous state’ and ‘could put lives at risk should it fail without warning’.
Meanwhile the next plot along facing the seafront is vacant following the serious fire at the Beach Hotel Restaurant in November 2016.
