Hide AdKevin Jenkins, Worthing Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “I hope as many people will come into town and support our local traders in the festive season, with this offer of free parking at the civic centre, encouraging a park and short stride into town.
“These businesses are the lifeblood of our town centre and have worked hard to ensure they can offer a safe shopping experience. We all need to do all we can to help them keep trading during this difficult time in the lead up to Christmas and on into next year.”
Adur will also be receiving a boost to its Christmas trade with two hours of free parking over three consecutive weekends in several car parks.
Middle Street, Tarmount and Shoreham Centre car parks in Shoreham; North Farm Road and Little Croft car parks in Lancing and Southwick Square car park will all be offering up to two hours free parking.
The offer dates will be December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20.

Hide AdNeil Parkin, Leader of Adur District Council, said: “We wanted to do something to encourage shoppers into our centres to help boost local traders and our pubs, restaurants and cafes when lockdown is lifted.
“It’s been a wretched year for them, and while we have done all we can to help, such as rapidly distributing millions of pounds of business support grants, I hope this little extra bit helps too. These businesses are the lifeblood of our town centres and I would urge everyone to support them in any way you can as I shall be doing.”
