Eastbourne and Willingdon MP steps down from role as councillor

She handed in her resignation to the council today.
The MP explained it was now time to hand over to someone else ahead of a busy legislative schedule in Westminster, increased work by her to support Eastbourne’s post-Covid economic recovery and the move back to attending parliament in person as lockdown restrictions ease.
“It’s been an honour to be the borough councillor for Sovereign Ward these last two years and as the town’s MP,” she said.

Hide Ad“I will of course continue to represent residents in this area, especially in regards to the cladding and unsafe building issues which many face.
“For my part, I am also keen to open up opportunities for new people to get involved in the good governance of Eastbourne and there are a number of excellent prospective Conservative candidates with skills and significant experience to do just.”
