£55m contract extension to maintain West Sussex's roads agreed
The agreement with West Sussex County Council includes resurfacing, safety fencing, footway, cycleway and carriageway reconstruction, defect repair, grass cutting and reactive emergency response.
Balfour Beatty Living Places has been the county council’s highways alliance partner since July 2011.

Hide AdJohn O’Brien, WSCC’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We are pleased to continue our relationship with our partner Balfour Beatty Living Places.
“We look forward to working closely with them again over the next two years. Together we will maintain and improve the road infrastructure in West Sussex on behalf of our residents and businesses.”

Hide AdThe 2014/15 Annual Performance Report shows that West Sussex Highways is a successful highways alliance, as Service Provider Indicators (SPIs) in highway safety, works delivery, network availability, and customer satisfaction were consistently above target.
In the 2014/15 period, Balfour Beatty Living Places delivered more 40 miles of carriageway resurfacing, 38 community engagement and improvement projects such as improvements to footways and drainage, and it also dealt with 33,364 reactive maintenance defects within target repair times.
