CARS AS A MAN MAGNET: My current car is a BMW Mini Cooper S. I have now had a number of complete strangers, males, come and talk to me about my car. Most have started by saying ‘I like your car’ and we have then indulged in long conversations about Minis old and new. As I used to do up the old Issigonis Minis we talked about the virtues of both. I love the car and happily spread its virtues to all. Only one male had the effrontery to enquire why a woman should have such a powerful car. I told him the true story of how I had done the Brands Hatch Circuit in a Formula Ford and done the fastest time of the day for a novice. That silenced any further criticism. So, girls if you want to meet men, get a Mini. I am happily married, by the way.
FRUSTRATION AND OBFUSCATION: Last week was missed as I was dealing with burst water mains, damage to flint walls and trackway. This all caused by heavy construction traffic, land moving equipment and heavy lorries piled high with aggregate, using my farm track to get to a construction site on my neighbour’s land. One tires of hassle, not of one’s own instigation, causing so much problems, denial and stress.
