PICTURES: Camel Trek success at Arundel school
On Friday, the last day at school before the February half-term, all the children in key stage two at the London Road school took part in the 5k trek across Arundel Park.
The trek was organised following a suggestion from a pupil in year four, who wanted the school to raise funds for a CAFOD World Gift, and involved children in years three to six.

Hide AdSydney Bridges, deputy head teacher, said: “The plan was to raise £400 for CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) so that we could buy a camel for a family in Ethiopia.
“We set off from St Philip’s after lunch and headed towards Hiorne Tower, down into the park towards Swanbourne Lake and back up to the school through the High Street.
“The children managed the walk in just over an hour. The children were then greeted back at the school by the key stage one children, who had come to school in non-uniform to raise funds.
“As the count stands, we have raised more than £800 for CAFOD, which means we can in fact buy two camels.

World Gifts are CAFOD’s alternative presents that help transform the lives of poor communities and families in developing countries.
