The colourful Le Grande Promenade procession set off from the Stade at 4pm and was led by representatives of the Hastings Celebrates 950 Committee followed by dignitaries from all over the world and numerous town Criers.
The purpose of the procession was to involve the local community in the celebrations and people were invited to dress as Normans and Saxons and join in the fun.

Youngsters paraded Guys in the procession that they had created at a workshop earlier in the day.
Nick Lynas, from the committee, said: “The Hastings Community turned out in their thousands and it was pleasing that the high spirit was not dampened when the rain fell.”
The procession received no funding and was a joint effort between the Bonfire Society, Jack in the Green, the Old Town Carnival, Hastings Borough Council and other local businesses and organisations.
