An estimated 250 people gathered on the Stade in Hastings Old Town on Thursday evening to hold a moving vigil for the refugees who died when a boat capsized in the English Channel this week.
The vigil heard from a number of speakers including Deputy Hastings Council leader Paul Barnett, who praised Hastings people for their compassion.
People placed lights around a large heart at the end of the vigil.
