East Sussex Fire and Rescue (ESFR) crews were called at 8:16am to attend the fire on the bypass between Little Horsted & Bell Farm Road.
Crews from Uckfield, Lewes and Crowborough attended and found one large goods vehicle alight in the layby of the bypass.
Sussex Police supported the fire service and the A22 was closed while the emergency services cleared the road.
Both the fire service and the police have now left the scene and the road has reopened.
Dan Jessup was there and here are the photos….
