Hide AdMr Goodheart, who has served on Bognor Regis Town Council since 2015, became mayor during last week’s town council meeting.
He was supposed to be made mayor last year but his tenure was delayed by the onset of the pandemic.
Realising his functions as mayor might be limited by Covid-19, he agreed, alongside former mayor Phil Woodall, to remain deputy for an extra year, hoping to make the most of the role a year down the line, when restrictions had been lifted.
Now the livery collar is officially his, Mr Goodheart is looking forward to a productive year as town mayor, to supporting his chosen charities, Rox Music and Arts and HFT, which supports people with learning disabilities, as much as possible.

“I’m inviting Joe Public to become a friend of the town hall. I truly believe there are an incredible number of people out there who’ve got loads of experience and who I’m gagging to find and use for the benefit of Bognor.”
He is also investigating the possibility of twinning with another British town and making the most of the newly-renovated seafront bandstand for regular events.
