“His Royal Highness Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh, was the longest serving of any British consort and he gave such dedicated and distinguished service to the Crown, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
“In founding the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, His Royal Highness Prince Phillip helped to change so many lives, equipping and empowering young people from all communities to build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to make the most out of life.
“He will be greatly missed.”
As a mark of respect, a flag is being flown at half-mast from Mid Sussex District Council’s Oaklands offices in Haywards Heath and will continue to do so until after the funeral.
