Haywards Heath u3a will hold its ‘Summer Extravaganza’ via Zoom on Wednesday, June 2, from 2pm to mark National u3a Day – a celebration of the UK-wide movement which brings together people no longer in full-time work to develop their interests and continue their learning.
Michael Misler, the group’s publicity and information officer, said: “We in Haywards Heath are presenting 18 different entertainment acts, lasting around two - two ½ hours with contributions from the leader of the ukelele group, a session on flower arrangement, photos from the photography group, Jazz solo performances of well known songs by one of our members, a poetry performance by a two group members, among many other forms of entertainment.

Groups have requested five minute slots to give short presentations related to their group, and the event will be hosted by Carole Andrews.
The Haywards Heath branch of the u3a was formed back in 1991 and at the original meeting, just 17 people attended to discuss the concept and put together the first committee.
By January 1992 there were 122 members and 20 groups, and now there are 80+ groups enjoyed by more than 1,000 members.

The u3a groups allow members to draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other, but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure.
