Carson Albury, Adur District Council’s executive member for customer services, said: “The new defibrillator installed at the Lancing and Sompting Cemetery, which can be accessed during opening times, will help to increase the safety of visitors.
“It will enable staff and members of the public to act quickly and potentially save someone’s life if they are taken ill while on the site.”
Defibrillators are used to give a high energy shock to someone in cardiac arrest. They can be used to save someone’s life before the emergency services arrive.

By having defibrillators in public places, and particularly in areas that may be harder to reach for the emergency services, it means that our staff and members of the public can quickly come to the aid of someone in need of help and potentially save a life.”
