Chichester Cross has been cordoned off with tape this morning (November 9).
Passers-by in the city-centre saw tape blocking off the monument and two people in masks cleaning up blood inside it.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “This was a medical incident, no suspicious circumstances.”
The area was also partially blocked off with cones, but the high street remains open.
