Burgess Hill Support Group’s bake off challenge for St Peter & St James’ Hospice
So far, more than £540 of the £600 goal has been raised to help support the hospice.
This fundraising has come from supporters who are attempting to bake their way to being crowned star baker by Burgess Hill Support Group in their bake off challenge for St Peter & St James Hospice.

Hide AdJustine Crookall, publicity officer for the group, said: “The Burgess Hill Support Group for St Peter & St James Hospice sadly have had to cancel most of their fundraising events this year due to Covid-19.
“To raise some funds in aid of the charity we are holding a virtual bake off.
“The aim is to simply have fun whilst raising funds in aid of St Peter & St James Hospice who are based in Sussex.”
The categories are best cupcakes, best biscuits, best failed bake (which can be any cake), best junior bake (under 16s, any cake), best other bake, best decorated celebration bake, and victoria sponge with a twist.

Hide AdTo enter, pick a category from the list and donate a minimum of £2 per entry via the JustGiving page, www.justgiving.com/fundraising/burgesshill-bakeoff.
No professional bakers are allowed to enter to make sure the competition is fair.
Justine said: “Your photos can be new (or previously made bakes).
“The judge will decide a winner of each of the above categories who will win a rosette. Obviously being virtual this will be based on looks alone.

Hide Ad“These winners in each category will then go through to the star baker round, these photos will then go to an independent judge and I will announce the final winner asap.”
The final star baker winner will receive a prize which has kindly been donated by Truffles Bakery.
Justine said: “A huge thank you to Truffles Bakery for kindly donating the main prize for the competition and to our independent judges.”
When you have decided which category (or categories) you would like to enter, message Justine Crookall on Facebook with a photo of your entry or entries, and she will add it to the corresponding album in the Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/onlinebakeoff/.

You can enter however many bakes you like, however each item will need a minimum of £2 donation, and no videos or 3D photos can be accepted.
The deadline for entries is 3pm on Saturday, June 20.
