Hide AdWhat staggers me is that there is just a relative handful of these people.
But their indulgence comes expensive. For example, the 2012 London Games cost £24bn in total with less than one per cent met by the private sector.
Clever that it was we who were forced to pay for a folly which failed utterly, despite official assurances to inspire anything beyond London.
A blessing in disguise for everybody else who was spared the curse of the Olympics.

Hide AdBrazil cannot afford Rio and Athens was bankrupted when it hosted the Games.
If the colossal sums thrown at these celebrity activities were instead devoted to the problems of our country, we could raise a decent standard of living for everyone.
As I finish, I hear that there are to be ‘victory parades’ in London and Manchester for returning Rio ‘heroes’.
