Under the guise of ‘savings’ the budget for libraries is to be cut by £2m, part of an overall budget cut of £93m.

Don’t fall for it.
It is the classic ploy of getting us to cut our own throat.
Some questions also seem framed to elicit a certain type of answer.
But the consultation and opening hours are a blind.
What this is really all about is cutting staff.
Indeed, the whole ‘savings’ scenario is driven by an ideological bias against public services.
As for our responses being taken into consideration at the appropriate time, the political colouring of ESCC and the government indicate that the decision has already been made.
