Street after street of uniform houses in Eastbourne?
It was helpful to read the property page about the Government’s tax receipts for the last few months of the first lockdown July-September, when the Stamp Duty Land Tax relief came into play for asking prices up to and including £500,000 (Eastbourne Herald November 27).
Andy Sommerville of Maidstone-based firm Search Acumen suggested that it is swings and roundabouts – the demand for up-market houses pushing prices well over the tax threshold, making up for the loss of tax revenue in relief.
