LETTER: Lavish spread of live music
Perhaps a reminder may be appropriate that the Horsham Music Circle has been bringing world-class professional musicians to the town over the last 72 years to perform chamber music and solo recitals together with, more recently, innovative lighter programmes and jazz.
From its early years the Circle has introduced many of today’s famous names to Horsham at the beginning of their careers.

Many of these artists have made return visits to the Music Circle including Julian Lloyd Webber in 1992 and 2012.
Add to this well established artists such as Radu Lupu, the Allegri Quartet, Peter Donohoe, Martin Roscoe, Tasmin Little, Emma Kirkby, Bernard d’Ascoli, Emma Johnson, London Brass and the Nash Ensemble amongst many other well known names.
In this the Horsham Music Circle has provided the town with a lavish spread of live music. Many of these performances were held at the old Capitol Theatre in its earlier location in the Carfax, and since 1985 in the Arts Centre now The Capitol in North Street.

There are still three concerts to be heard in the current series including the percussionist Rhys Matthews, the world renowned Allegri String Quartet, and a special celebration of the Circle’s many years of music making with a programme from Classical to Choral and Sinatra to Swing when stars of the UK concert platform join West-End leads and Britain’s premier jazz ensemble for a concert in June.
Venue, dates and ticket information can be found on the Circle’s web site at www.horsham-music-circle.org.uk or from the Hon Secretary on 01403 252602.
