Award-winning international film director to hold talk in Bramber
He became more widely known for his iconic film The Boy who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan, an enthralling account of the daily life of a small boy growing up in the violent Afghanistan conflict.
This was followed by his series of ‘In Search of….’ films about Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven (played in cinemas for months) and, recently his life of Chopin.

Hide AdPhil Grabsky’s many films have been one-offs for BBC’s Timewatch strands and for Channel 4 and Sky TV. He made six award-winning films with Monty Python’s Terry Jones and BBC’s I Caesar in the ‘Great Commander’ series.
With David Bickerstaff he co-directed Making War Horse, following the smash-hit stage version. He had phenomenal success in bringing his film of the National Gallery exhibition: Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan, to cinema audiences all over the world - a global first!
He has received many awards including the Royal Television Society, the Royal Philharmonic Award, the Rose d’Or and many others.
On Saturday 26 October, at 7.30pm, there will be a unique opportunity at St Mary’s House, Bramber, to meet Phil Grabsky in person, who will be talking about his experiences as an international film director and showing excerpts from his films.
