LAURA CARTLEDGE Life's like That...I'm running out of ideas for things to do before the big three-oh!
Because Christmas is so close, and comes with a whirlwind of relatives, visits, gifts and food, I have to admit my birthday always takes me by surprise.
Suddenly there are balloons and cards and then, with a blow of my candles, it’s all over.

Hide AdAnd with my age slowly but surely creeping up to the next landmark it seems like a good excuse to make a list. A list to beat all lists so far. A list of 30 things I want to do before I am 30.
I have made a start.
I’d quite like to eat a Chinese out of the fancy box-shaped-containers you see on the telly. And learn how to juggle. It’d be nice to improve my German, and learn how to knit – something I’ve done in the past but always forget.
Maybe learn some magic tricks? Make more art and visit Russia. Topping the list is to have Mary Berry, of Great British Bake Off fame, compliment one of my cakes – but that might have to be more of a life ambition. After all my Victoria sponges are good but they do need perfecting.
Then there are the bigger things, like to own a house – well, I would be happy with just a study if I am honest. I have it all planned out already...

Hide AdBig box shelves to hold my ever-growing collection of sewing machines, typewriters and books. With my cotton reels all in a row. The slightly strange but charming framed photograph of a moustached man, now named Bernard, which I rescued from a carboot hanging on the wall...Plus of course I would need to get a cat to keep me company while I work.
I make that ten things, so I do have some way to go. Suggestions are more than welcome, feel free to email me. And of course I will keep you posted with how I get on.
