‘Name a Gritter’ competition returns this winter for Sussex schools
West Sussex County Council (WSCC) contractor Balfour Beatty is running the contest, asking pupils to rename three yellow gritters.
The winners who come up with the best names will receive a High Street voucher each.

Hide AdThe school will also be given and grit bin, grit salt to fill and snow shovels.
County council cabinet member for highways and transport John O’Brien said: “This is sa great contest which provides some fabulous names from every school that enters.
“we need some new ones to join the likes of Gritney Spears and Freddie Salted in keeping out roads safe this winter.
“The competition gives us a chance to visit schools and show children how to keep safe during the colder months.”

Hide AdPast winners included Bittery Gritterly, Olaf and Nitty Gritty.
Foa chance to win, entrants must not use any of the names above.
The deadline is Tuesday November 24, the winning school will receive their prize on Friday November 27.
Balfour Beatty will also give a talk to the school on how stay safe this winter.
