M&S 'very interested' in town
The retail giant confirmed to the Express it was 'very interested' in the town but would not say which site it was looking at.
Last month Lewes-based developer Rees Elliott said a 'national retailer' was interested in building a store at Lewes Bus Station in Eastgate Street.

Hide AdIt said the retailer wanted the lion's share of the site and the new store would be on two floors.
But Martin Elliott, a partner in Rees Elliott, refused to confirm if it was M&S.
A Marks and Spencer spokesman said: 'Lewes is a town M&S is very interested in.
'However, at the moment, we cannot comment any further.'
Lewes MP Norman Baker said he would welcome an M&S in Lewes.

'We value our independent shops and don't want the town to be swamped with large multiple stores but, on the other hand, I think M&S is an exception.
'I think it'd make a very good anchor for the town's independent retailers and would be a real feather in the cap for Lewes.'
