Lifeboat called to boat stuck underneath Brighton Palace Pier
The Shoreham RNLI was paged at 9.06pm to a 23ft yacht ‘in distress just east of Brighton Palace Pier’.
An RNLI spokesperson said the yacht was being pulled under the pier by the force gale six-to-seven winds and the two-metre swell.

Hide AdThe lifeboat volunteers managed to get a tow line onto the vessel which had two people on board and pull the yacht to safety after three attempts.
The crew managed to tow the boat to Shoreham Harbour.
Lifeboat coxswain Steve Smith said: “We worked in some pretty atrocious conditions to get a towline onto the yacht and pull it to safety.
“The two people onboard were ok but very relieved to see us.”
A spokesperson for Brighton Palace Pier said: “The pier is fine no damage at all.”
