Edith had lived for a long time in Grove Lane, and was an active member of the village, through the church. She was a keen gardener. Almost to the end of her long life, Edith enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. She will be sadly missed .We send our sympathy to Edith’s children Anna and Richard, and to her 7 grand children. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, 25th March, at 2pm, in Iden Parish Church, to which all those that knew Edith are welcome.
JOHNNY-NO-MATES: Goodness me, spring has suddenly burst forth hasn’t it, with it’s blossom, it’s celandines, and the daffodils everywhere, which are surely more golden and perfect than ever before. Last week I picked some from the garden, and one thing I’ve inherited from my mum is that I can’t leave a single flower in a clump, in case it gets lonely. Well, how would we like it, one minute in a nice little gang, and the next minute a poor old daffodil, Johnny no-mates. No one can be one hundred percent sure that flowers don’t have feelings. Well, do you know anyone who speaks ‘flower’. If so , please ring me [see below] Wouldn’t that be something for the Village Voice? ‘ Iden Daffodil Speaks of Terror At being left alone In a clump’ [could happen!]
CONTACT ME: If anyone has anything to add to the Village Voice, please ring Gill Griffin [ telephone 01797 280311]
