Harvest festival food to help hungry in Shoreham
Pupils at Swiss Gardens Primary School took in donations for their annual harvest festival.
Two celebration assemblies were held at the school, in Swiss Gardens, and a representative from Shoreham Foodbank, Paul Comber, went along to thank the children for their kind donations.

Hide AdHead teacher Lawrence Caughlin said: “We always donate the harvest festival food to a local charity.”
In the past, the festival produce had gone to Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, he added, but this year they were able to give the food directly to their own town, as the Shoreham Foodbank was just being set up.
Mr Caughlin added: “The children had a traditional harvest assembly, with songs and poems, and prayers and thoughts about people less fortunate than ourselves.”
Shoreham Foodbank is being set up with the support of Christian organisation The Trussell Trust.
The first food parcels will be given out at the Shoreham Centre in December. People can only collect food if they have been given a voucher in advance.
