David Dix, 50, was released on police bail after the fire in Wigmore Road, Broadwater, on January 5.
Brave neighbours had tried to rescue frail Diana Dix through her first-floor bedroom window but she died in Worthing Hospital.

Detective chief inspector Graham Pratt said: "It is important to stress that Mr Dix had not been charged with any offence and it is possible that this fire was a tragic accident.
"We will continue with our investigation on behalf of the coroner in order to ascertain the exact circumstances, as far as possible, surrounding Diana's death.
The final decision will be made by the coroner at the inquest as to the circumstances of Diana's death."
David's son, Darren, paid tribute to his dad this week.
