Fire crew help at rescue centre
Peter Clarke, from the Senlac Veterinary centre was also called. Herstmonceux Fire & Rescue were also in attendance and assisted the Crowborough team with the removal of gates and posts to provide access to the mare that is the largest animal at the Centre.
Peter gave the “Delilah” a sedative, as the lifting process can be quite unusual for the animal. The lifting strops were fitted and the mare was lifted to her feet and after a minute she began to stand by herself. After the strops were removed Dinty walked the mare round in order to increase the circulation in the leg that had been under the mare. “Delilah” has made a full recovery from the experience.
The next Open Day at the Rescue Centre is on the 8th September. Info 01424 892381.
