Eastbourne beach hut competition's stunning shortlist

Eight competing final designs have been chosen from more than 50 entries, with the winning designs to be built in the Devonshire Ward by December 2016.
The beach hut competition, organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, saw more than 50 entries from some of the world’s leading architects.

Hide AdThe huts will be built as part of a new cycle route connecting Eastbourne’s Towner Art Gallery with the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill and the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings.
Bissett Adams, ZAP Architecture and Jak Studio are among the teams chosen to compete in the final round of the competition.
George King Architects, Calder Peel, Dublin-based SFA Architects, Periscope, and Alpa Depani with James Marrinan are also on the shortlist.
The full designs will be on public display in the town between March 9 and 14.

Hide AdLocal artist Lucy Dean, a team of students from Sussex Downs College and a group entry from Age Concern have also been shortlisted for a fifth hut in a separate contest only open to the local community.
The winning designs will be announced in April.
