Diamond couple

The couple met at Richmond Ice Rink. They were both accomplished skaters and went on to win many competitions. Laurie was a good all round sportsman who once qualified for Wimbledon but had to pull out with a damaged shoulder.

During the war, Laurie did invaluable work keeping the communication lines open to embassies and the War Office in London when they were damaged by enemy bombs.
After the war, Laurie worked with precious metals including gold and platinum before setting up his own factory.
The couple, who moved to the Heathfield area after retiring, have one daughter, Jacqueline, who lives in America.
