DEVELOPMENT PLAN SPARKS FEARS
The Long Man Parish Council and the South Downs Joint Committee (SDJC) are formal consultees to the scheme which was lodged with Wealden District Council last month.
The SDJC accepts some housing provision near Polegate as laid out in the Non Statutory Local Plan but does not agree that homes should be built beyond the land already allocated.

Hide AdIt says Pelham's scheme in its entirety would have an adverse impact on the area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).
Members of Long Man Parish Council have also voted to oppose the schemes.
They say the homes would effectively constitute a new town and Pelham Homes does not own all the land necessary to build a Folkington Link by-pass.
They also point out the application for a 'gigantic development which would overwhelm the area with housing' goes against Government guidelines by being on a greenfield site.

Hide Adt would be intrusive, visible from the Downs, affect two listed houses and parkland and create noise and light pollution, they add.
Lack infrastructure to cope with up to 7,000 new residents was also a concern.
The SDJC will discuss the bid at a meeting On Monday.
