Crawley Community Awards get backing from Gatwick Airport
Being run by the Crawley Observer in partnership with The Hawth and Crawley Borough Council, the awards have already received more than 100 nominations covering charity ambassadors, great neighbours and inspirational sporting heroes.
Melanie Wrightson, Gatwick’s community engagement manager, said: “Gatwick Airport is delighted to be the headline sponsor of the inaugural Crawley Awards, to recognise and reward those in our community who selflessly give up their time and effort for the benefit of others.

“Crawley has a special role in the running of the world’s busiest single runway airport.
“We wish all the nominees the best of luck and commend the Crawley Observer, the Hawth Theatre and the Crawley Borough Council for taking the initiative to organise what promises to be a fantastic awards evening.”
Gatwick Airport was on the map long before Crawley New Town starting life in 1930 as Surrey Aero Club, used exclusively by flying enthusiasts.

It is now one of Crawley’s biggest employers and whatever its future holds, it will remain a cornerstone of the town’s development.
